Tiger II, developed in 1943 and unofficially referred to as the King Tiger, was mass-produced by Henschel from 1944 onwards. The King Tiger combined the demands for armor protection and firepower in an outstanding way. The frontal armour of up to 150 mm thick could not be penetrated by any projectiles from the on-board cannons of enemy battle tanks. The hull sides were armoured up to 80 mm thick. Despite several massive bombing raids by the Allies on the Henschel plant in Kassel, 492 Tiger IIs were delivered to the troops - including the prototypes and 50 vehicles equipped with a Porsche turret. However, not all of them reached the front units. Many of the Tiger IIs were lost due to propulsion problems resulting from the high total weight or simply due to a lack of fuel.
Assembly, paint and glue are required.
