Press release from Northcord Model Company:
Northcord Model Company is pleased to announce the release of UK6514, the long-awaited, third release of the 10.5 metre single door casting of this distinctive, modern, double-decker in the United Kingdom. UK6514 represents fleet number 33201HB (SK68 LWN) that has 10.5 metre, single door bodywork and was the first of 75 new buses for First Glasgow in 2018. 33201HB carries a full and colourfully branded livery for route 75. The new buses formed part of a £31m investment from First Glasgow covering 150 new buses over two years in anticipation of meeting the annually increasing percentage of Euro6 buses to meet the city’s Low Emission Zone requirement. By Hogmanay 2019 this target requires 40% of the fleet entering or operating within the city LEZ to be Euro6 compliant until reaching 100% by 2022.
33201HB was the star of the high-profile new bus launch on an unusually dreich and sodden George Square on 9th October 2018. The bus was placed inside a 20 foot-high structure designed to replicate a model bus box. The new buses feature USB charging points, extra padded ELeather high-back seating and free WiFi. The Euro VI engine uses stop/start technology but the letters ‘HB’, that are appended to the fleet number, do not reference any sort of ‘hybrid’ power source; they represent the formerly used term ‘highbridge’ to denote a taller bus than one that is ‘lowbridge’.
Apart from the presentation of the 1:1 scale big model box at George Square, the mirrorless double-decker bus made a great attraction at the launch. First Glasgow worked with Alexander Dennis and 21st Century Technology on the trial of a camera system which replaced conventional external rear-view mirrors (also colloquially, and incorrectly, referred to as ‘wing mirrors’) with four cameras and two interior displays. 33201HB was the first double-decker bus having this system in the UK.
The first of the batch of 75 vehicles entered service on 10th October on route 75 between Castlemilk and Milton via Glasgow City Centre, although 33201HB did not enter service until later to allow time for driver familiarisation with the camera mirrors, and, even then, it was allocated to a set diagram every day so that the number of drivers was limited at first. During the summer of 2019 it was regularly allocated to the X7 M&D’s Express route to Strathclyde Country Park. The UK6514 model represents its allocation to route 75, heading for Castlemilk, a large housing scheme to the south of the city, developed by Glasgow Corporation dating back to the 1950s to alleviate the slum conditions in the inner city, particularly in The Gorbals, near to the home depot for 33201HB. The side destination references Hampden Park, Scotland’s national football stadium.
The driver rear-view camera, and special, comprehensive livery and branding of 33201HB are 100% reproduced onto the UK6514 model in 1:76 scale. The stand-out features of the branding are : the big ‘75’ on both sides and rear, along with key locations served ‘Castlemilk, Hampden, City Centre, Possilpark, Milton’ on the nearside, and the special banner-type ‘Your new buses have arrived’ decorations on both sides and rear. Further additional details carried by the model include the ‘Free WiFi’, ‘USB chargers’, ‘Comfy seats’ on the rear, and the special sunlight protection shades on the top of both front windscreens.
The Alexander Dennis Enviro400 MMC UK6514 is a one-piece casting whose clean lines accentuate the square, gasket-mounted windows and the livery application on which all logos and lettering are clearly legible. Another main feature on the UK6514 model is its single tree protector at the front. The front dome on the model is significant, with curved windscreens on both upper deck and lower deck.
Northcord Model Company is also creating new design standards within the interior of both saloons. These features, inside the compartments, will represent the real, outstanding layout of the Enviro400 MMC, such as the extensive portrayal of handrails on upper deck and lower deck, etc.
This model is due for release in November 2019, and is limited to 1200 pieces worldwide. Our pre-order price is just £44.99, which is £15.00 off the RRP. If you'd like to reserve yours, please contact us.
Press release from Northcord Model Company this morning:
Following the significant success in launching the brand new casting of the Alexander Dennis Enviro400 MMC model in the livery of National Express West Midlands, Stagecoach in Oxfordshire and Bluestar, Northcord Model Company is now releasing the fifth livery on the 10.9 metre long, single-door casting – UK6511 in the livery of Stagecoach West Scotland with full route branding for route 11. UK6511 represents fleet number 10930 (SN67 XAY) that has 10.9 metre, single door bodywork and was new to Stagecoach West Scotland in 2018. 10930 is one of 27 new Alexander Dennis Enviro400 MMCs introduced by Stagecoach West Scotland on former A1 Service route 11 (Ardrossan-Kilmarnock) in January 2018. The bus is fitted with automatic vehicle location software, together with e-leather seats, free WiFi and USB sockets. 10930 carries a full and outstanding brand livery for route 11. The special branding is reproduced onto the UK6511 model. The stand-out features of the branding are : the “every 7/8 mins Mon-Fri daytime” frequency and the prominent “the Eleven” along with the key locations served (Ardrossan ‧ Saltcoats ‧ Stevenston ‧ Kilwinning ‧ Irvine ‧ Crosshouse ‧ Kilmarnock) that are repeated on both sides and rear. Additional details that the model carries include the “FREE WiFi” and “USB Sockets” logos on either side and rear. The model also correctly features the opposite-facing seats at the rear of the upper deck saloon.
Regrettably, the manufacturing contractor has made two egregious errors by failing to replicate this livery correctly despite having the correct, light blue paint sample for the front dome and the livery pdf, both kindly supplied by Stagecoach. The factory has produced the model using the slightly blue if compared with the standard Stagecoach dark blue for the front dome instead and has chosen to use the same blue for the rear branding between the upper and lower rear windows.
The Alexander Dennis Enviro400 MMC UK6511 is a one-piece casting whose clean lines accentuate the square, gasket-mounted windows and the livery application on which all logos and lettering are clearly legible. Another main feature on the UK6511 model is its single tree protector at the front. The A1 Service name is one of the iconic operators in Scotland – revered in the same way as Lothian Buses (and predecessors) and Craig Group (West Coast Motors and family). Its dark blue and cream livery, often enhanced with dark red, made it a firm favourite with bus enthusiasts. Its previously un-numbered trunk route between Ardrossan and Kilmarnock ran to a high frequency. Yet, despite the seemingly outward unified appearance, this was a company that comprised a multiplicity of individual owners. Limited bus operations began in the early years of the previous century that focused on serving principal towns in Ayrshire but it was not until late 1925 when Ayrshire Bus Owners Association, trading as A1 Service was set up to begin operation the following January, operating between Ardrossan and Kilmarnock and to a fixed timetable. A limited company, Ayrshire Bus Owners (A1 Service) Ltd. was set up in May 1931 which issued 22 shares, each shareholding entitling the owner to operate 2 buses. As the years progressed, some owners fell away, by retirement or death, and the shares passed to others outwith the original co-operative or to existing owners. Some of the co-operative’s shareholders also ran buses or coaches outwith the A1 company. The remaining owners decided to accept an offer from Stagecoach, which had previously purchased the neighbouring Western Scottish company in July 1994, to sell the company and A1 Service became a Stagecoach subsidiary on 29th January 1995. Although many of the buses were sold immediately, the replacements, both new and second hand, retained the A1 Service name within the then current map and stripes fleetname style.
CMNL modelled two of the second generation of new buses for Stagecoach A1 Service : ukbus1016 (in later, lighter blue and cream livery) and ukbus0019 (in overall wrap for Belmont Prize Winners); each of these models bearing the destination 11 Ardrossan. For further reading about the history of A1 Service, collectors’ attention is drawn to the following publications : “Sixty Years of A.1. Service” by George Heaney; “Ayrshire Bus Owners A1 Service- Seventy Years of Serving Ayrshire” by George Heaney and “Ayrshire Bus owners (A1 Service) Ltd” by The PSV Circle, with much of the narrative supplied by George Heaney.

Northcord Model Company is pleased to announce the release of UKBUS6509, the third release of the long awaited 10.3 metre 2-door casting of this distinctive, modern, double-decker in the United Kingdom.
The third livery to be carried on the brand-new Alexander Dennis Enviro400H MMC model, is Abellio London with standard London red livery.
UKBUS6509 represents fleet number 2616 (SN18 KLJ) that has 10.3 metre, dual-door bodywork and was new to Abellio London in 2018. 2616 has a Euro6 hybrid driveline and the newly released model demonstrates the special cooling apertures that are appropriate to this hybrid bus. The model carries the roof fleet number ABL2616.
This bus is based at Abellio London’s Walworth Depot where it operates on busy route 196 which runs between Elephant & Castle and Newington Causeway.
The Alexander Dennis Enviro400H MMC UKBUS6509 is a one-piece casting whose clean lines accentuate the square-cornered, patented quick-release windows of the real bus and the livery application on which all logos and lettering are clearly legible. Another main feature on the UKBUS6509 model is its dual individual tree protectors at the front. The front dome on the model is significant, with curved windscreens on both upper deck and lower deck.
Northcord Model Company is also creating new design standards within the interior of both saloons. These features, inside the compartments, will represent the real, outstanding layout of the Enviro400H MMC, such as the additional ventilation equipment on the upper deck ceiling, and the extensive portrayal of handrails on upper deck and lower deck, etc.
The brand new Enviro400H MMC bus models will be distributed by John Ayrey Die-Casts Limited (UK), Porte Publishing Company (Japan), 80M Bus Model Shop and Concorde Hobby Shop (HK) respectively. The UKBUS6509 model is limited to 1200 pieces worldwide.
